The PMZONE project management board game is a serious game designed for learning and practicing project management, by simulating common dilemmas that can arise when managing a project. The game simulates real-life scenarios and encompasses ALL the key elements of project management.
It is recommended to play the game at least twice, and then occasionally after that, to preserve, improve and continue building your knowledge.
For your convenience, here is an agenda for the game-based workshop:
- Game Session: Begin with a preliminary round where participants play in pairs, focusing on getting a feel for the game without strict rule enforcement.
- Post-Game Discussion: Reflect on the gameplay and connect insights to real-world project management scenarios.
- Session Outcomes: Participants will gain an understanding of basic project management concepts, familiarize themselves with the professional terminology, and recognize key challenges in the field.
- Repetition for Reinforcement: Repeat the “Easy Start” session to solidify understanding and encourage deeper insight into the gameplay.
- Session Outcomes: Participants will enhance their grasp of project management fundamentals and start applying game-learned insights to tackle real-life challenges.
- Advanced Gameplay: Engage in a more structured game session following the basic rules outlined in the Instructor Guide, along with some additional rules.
- PMO Integration: Introduce the role of the PMO gradually.
- Session Outcomes: By the end of this session, participants will comprehend the roles of the project manager and PMO, and begin to develop goal-oriented strategic thinking.
- Solo Play: Advance to playing individually rather than in pairs to heighten the challenge.
- Session Outcomes: Participants will master a comprehensive view of project management, manage details adeptly, foster creativity, and handle competitive and cooperative dynamics under uncertain conditions, while staying focused on project targets.
